Mozart with Jan Lisiecki

Following his acclaimed debut in 2024, Gábor Takács- Nagy returns to the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra with a programme of quintessential classics. He is joined by the celebrated Canadian virtuoso Jan Lisiecki for Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 22 . At its premiere, the work so captivated the audience that they demanded an encore of the melancholic Andante – a rare departure from the usual preference for a spirited finale. The programme opens with Brahms’s Variations on a Theme by Haydn . Though recent scholarship suggests the theme may not be Haydn’s own, the work remains an utterly engaging masterpiece. Closing the evening, Beethoven’s Second Symphony offers a radiant and life-affirming conclusion.
